Case Study

Building a Safer Workplace Through Hazard Awareness

Factory Transformation

The Challenge

The cutting department is one of the highest-risk areas in apparel manufacturing, with workers exposed to sharp cutting equipment, ergonomic hazards, and unsafe handling practices. Limited awareness of hazards and inconsistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) can increase the likelihood of workplace injuries.

CRE's Approach

CRE conducted a Cutting Department Hazard Awareness Program focusing on the safe use and handling of cutting equipment, proper use of PPE, ergonomic working postures, and safe issuance and return of tools. Workers were introduced to the principles of risk assessment, and a comprehensive risk assessment was conducted to identify workplace hazards and improvement opportunities. CRE also facilitated the development of safety procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support consistent implementation.

The Outcome

Workers developed a better understanding of workplace hazards, safe equipment handling practices, and the importance of PPE compliance. The factory implemented corrective and preventive actions identified through the risk assessment process, strengthened safety systems, and established standardized procedures to reduce workplace risks and promote a safer working environment.

Impact: Enhanced worker safety awareness, improved PPE compliance, strengthened risk management practices, and established sustainable systems to reduce workplace hazards and support employee well-being.
