Transforming Quality into Sustainability
The Challenge
Many apparel factories rely heavily on final inspection to ensure only conforming products leave the factory. While this approach may improve shipment acceptance rates, defects are often detected only after significant resources have already been consumed. The resulting rework and rejection lead to additional material usage, energy consumption, water footprint, labour effort, and waste generation.
CRE's Approach
CRE worked with the factory to shift the focus from merely detecting defects to preventing them. A structured Quality Control and Quality Assurance framework was introduced, integrating inspection data, feedback mechanisms, root cause analysis, and process improvements across production stages.
The Outcome
The factory achieved a significant improvement in final inspection pass rates while reducing rework and rejection levels. Beyond operational benefits, this translated into lower resource consumption, reduced environmental impact, improved process effectiveness, and better utilization of human effort—demonstrating how quality excellence can contribute directly to sustainability goals.
